Digable Planets Reunites with Ladybug Mecca for L.A. Show Featuring U.G.O. Crew

Remember the Grammy-winning, smooth-rapping jazzy trio Digable Planets who taught you how to be “Cool Like Dat?” back in the 90s? Well, they're back!

For the first time since 2005, the original Digable Planets lineup — including Ladybug Mecca — will be performing with the U.G.O. Crew at the Conga Room at LA Live on Feb. 3.

Since the group split up, Digable members have all continued touring with new projects. Ladybug Mecca embarked on a DJ career as DJ LadybugMek, while Doodlebug became known as Cee Knowledge of Cee Knowledge & the Cosmic Funk Orchestra. After a seven-year hiatus, Butterfly returned as Cherrywine before morphing into the mysterious and press-evasive Palaceer Lazaro of experimental hip-hop group Shabazz Palaces.

On Jan. 31, Digable Planets and U.G.O. Crew will be releasing a joint album from their 2010 “Cool Like That” tour including classic songs like “Cool Like That,” “Where I'm From,” and “Nickel Bag,” as well as U.G.O. tracks including “Remembered” and the “Change” featuring Sean Kingston.
