Zero Zero

Arizona’s Love Me Nots have been hammering away at their own Rezillos-esque pop-punk-garage for a good few years now, but last year half the band—singer and keyboard player Nicole Laurenne and guitarist Michael Johnny Walker—left-turned toward a new project called Zero Zero and a new world of synth-pop. Or is that synth-punk? There’s a little bit of fuzz left, sure, but otherwise the pixels are pumping like crazy all through Zero Zero’s debut May Day, which was basically getting radio play since moment one. Songs like “Tear It Up” are cranked up digi-drum bashers that practically demand to soundtrack some kind of big-budget Hollywood car chase—not exactly the Love Me Nots style, but the energy’s just the same.
