Zella Day

People have called her “happier Lana Del Rey,” but–let’s be real–Zella Day is more than that. Day, a child of the classics who grew up listening to Bob Dylan and The Beatles, is a modern-Stevie Nicks–not just because her songs sound like Nicks,’ but also because her voice is eerily similar. Having become known for her ‘70s-tinged cover of White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army,” Day has made her vintage sound one of her hallmarks, though others like “Sweet Ophelia” stray off into indie pop territory. Thus, based on a comprehensive analysis of Day’s songs alone, it’s hard to say what Day’s music is if not “happier Lana Del Rey.” But we have a pretty good feeling that maybe that's what she wants.
