Zack Kalter is Latest and Last Orange County Contestant Sent Home on The Bachelorette

The other Orange County shoe has dropped, although this shoe is a former USC baseball player and Newport Beach children's book publisher who is the latest–and last–Orange County contestant eliminated on ABC's The Bachelorette. Yes, a week after giving Costa Mesa's Brandon Andreen the heave-ho, Desiree Hartsock this week sent 28-year-old Zack Kalter packing.

“I'm shocked,” Kalter said upon being eliminated. “I don't know why this happened. I really am shocked and I'm not ready to go home yet. Desiree has all the qualities I look for and I really did see a future with this girl. But rejection is not fun and it's hard to swallow. It's a hard thing to kind of grasp–that something you think could've been so great is actually in fact not great and is not going to work.”

Brandon Andreen, Costa Mesan with Bomb Threat in Past, Eliminated on The Bachelorette

Phillips Ranch-born Kalter, who has said in interviews his favorite book is Atlas Shrugged (but don't hold that against him; it's the OC bible!), explained he came into the competition wanting to find the love of his life. On a television reality show. Jeez, dude haven't you ever been to Gulfstream?

Perhaps the ex-baller is headed there now, as not having a life mate is “still that missing piece to my life, which is that true everlasting that I don't have. And without that, you feel alone. You feel like you're not complete, I guess. It's definitely tough.”

You almost feel sorry for him. Almost.
