Zachary Turtenwald of Mission Viejo Accused by Feds of Making Explosive Devices

A 27-year-old Mission Viejo man was taken into federal custody on charges of making and possessing explosive devices, according to the FBI.

Zachary Turtenwald was arrested in San Francisco on Sunday and has an arraignment hearing scheduled Oct. 21 at the federal courthouse in Santa Ana, said FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

Agents executed a search warrant Friday at Turtenwald's apartment at 24950 Via Florecer, Mission Viejo, where chemicals and other ingredients used to build a bomb were found, according to the feds.

Turtenwald, who was traveling when he was informed of the search warrant, turned himself in to San Francisco Police. He is accused of manufacturing explosive materials without a license and possession of unregistered destructive devices.
