Yuna

In her native Malaysia, Yuna is a superstar. The 27-year-old singer/songwriter’s rise to fame there is partially due to the area's explosion of social media, and, of course, her infectious brand of pop, which she’s described as a “cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay.” And in a relatively short period of time, she’s already worked with the likes of Pharrell Williams and David Foster. But what separates Yuna from our country's stream of emerging pop princesses, besides her Muslim faith, is that she’s one of the rare foreign talents to really register with American audiences. In addition to the slew of awards she’s won in her homeland, Yuna is known for her IAMJETFUELshop, and was given a National Youth Icon Award by the Prime Minister. As she builds a fanbase a world away from her homeland, Yuna proves she has the talent and drive that could very well make her the next unlikely pop star.
