Woman Stripped, Then Shopped 'Til She Dropped at Santa Ana's El Toro Market

A woman ventured into El Toro Meat Market in SanTana yesterday morning when she started showing a little too much of her carnitas.

Shoppers said the woman caused a scene around 9 a.m. when she acted erratically while stripping off her clothes in the liquor section of the store. By the time SanTana police arrived on scene, she was dead.

A security guard and a manager at El Toro Market off First and Bristol Street tried to subdue the unidentified woman, described as being in her early 40s. They handcuffed and took her to the back of the store. That's when her health started failing. Paramedics got to the carnicería and tortilla factory (once reviewed by KCRW-FM 89.9's Evan Kleiman) after she died.

Santa Ana homicide detectives are looking into the incident. Police spokesman Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told KTLA-5's Chip Yost that they'll be looking at whether the woman was drunk, on drugs or suffered from a mental illness–or maybe it was just natural causes?

They'll also be investigating what happened during her scuffle with store employees.
