Another Orange County collision involving a motorist suspected of driving on drugs has resulted in the death of a bicyclist.

Vinh Tran, 36, of Westminster, died from “traumatic injuries” suffered in the crash Saturday morning in Fountain Valley, according to police Sgt. Steve DeSantis.
Tran was riding a bicycle south on Brookhurst Street near Heil Avenue around 9:30 a.m. when he was rear-ended by a Jeep that was also heading south, DeSantis said.
“Preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the Jeep was driving under the
influence of prescription drugs,” said DeSantis, who identified the suspect as William Klein, 37, of Santa Ana.
Booked at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, Klein was scheduled to be arraigned at Superior Court in Westminster on charges of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter, according to DeSantis. But the investigation continues and anyone with more information is asked to call Fountain Valley Police at 714.593.4484.
Shaun Eagleson, 30, of Fountain Valley, was killed after his bike was struck by a vehicle in Newport Beach on Oct. 19. Driver Neil Storm Stephany was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The Huntington Beach 23-year-old pleaded not guilty last month to second-degree murder, hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Daniella Rafaela Palacios, 44, was killed after her bike was struck by a pickup truck Nov. 1 in her city of residence, Anaheim. It's unknown if suspected driver Junior Rigoberto Lopez was DUI at the time because he allegedly fled to Mexico to get his truck repaired. The Buena Park 30-year-old faces felony hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury.
