Whistleblower: Russian Military Fed Dog Food to Troops to Save Money

Poor Russia. Its population is declining, its power waning, and everyone's drinking themselves into a stupor. And one of the branches of its once-fearsome military, who stopped Hitler at Stalingrad and Napoleon in his tracks, is now so strapped for cash that it's feeding soldiers dog food in an attempt to make ends meet.

That's the bombshell allegation of an ex-major official Igor Matveyev, according to Reuters. He was with the Interior Ministry, the part of Russia's security forces charged with domestic affairs in the world's largest country. Matveyev was recently fired for, he says, making a video plea to Putin and his puppet Medvedev urging they investigate rampant corruption in the Interior Ministry–worst of all which was the dog food feast.

“It's embarrassing to say but soldiers here
were fed dog food. It was fed to them as stew,” Matveyev told Reuters, with the agency adding that “dog food labels were covered up with
labels reading 'premium quality beef.'

If the allegations are true, let's at least hope Interior Ministry officials let their troops wash down the meal with buckets of vodka…
