County and water leaders may swear fracking ain't nothing but a thing, but there are several concerned North Countians who fear the oil extraction method may endanger their drinking water. Some of them will no doubt be out tonight for a symposium on the subject at Cal State Fullerton.
"The Impact of Oil Extraction in North Orange County" is the title of the 6 p.m. event the university hosts in Titan Student Union, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton.
David Bowman, interim dean of the university's College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, moderates the forum that is being held in partnership with the cities of Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia and Yorba Linda.
The goal is "to educate the public on the geological and environmental impact of oil drilling and and hydraulic fracturing, or fracking," according to organizers.
