Leobardo “Banda” Valladares, Held in Murder of Francisco Salgado Torres, Arraigned
Update: Leobardo “Banda” Valladares was convicted this week of shooting and murdering a fellow patron during a confrontation outside a Stanton bar. The attorney for the 45-year-old Anaheim resident argued at trial it was self defense, but the jury found the defendant guilty of felony first degree murder with sentencing enhancements for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death and the personal use of a firearm found true. A regular patron at Oasis Bar, Valladares started a fight outside with Francisco Salgado Torres on the night of Sept. 15, 2013. Valladares then pulled out a gun and shot Torres in the face and chest, killing the 48-year-old. The gunman fled the scene but turned himself in to law enforcement five days later. Valladares faces up to 50 years to life in state prison at his Sept. 25 sentencing.

Mischa Barton of The O.C. Fame Sues Talent Manager Mother for Allegedly Stealing Money
Update: Attorneys representing Mischa Barton and her mother Nuala Barton told a judge this week they will try to settle a lawsuit filed by The O.C. actress, who alleged her parent stole money from her while serving as her talent manager. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steven Kleifield scheduled an Oct. 17 status hearing in light of the development. Barton, 29, sued her mother on April 7, alleging she was a “greedy stage mother” who “forged documents and has even kicked Barton out of her own home,” a $7.8 million Beverly Hills residence where Nuala and her husband live. But the mother and daughter also came together recently to fight a suit by a lender who claims they owe him more than $350,000 from a loan. The original loan was between the lender and Nuala, but Mischa was dragged in when it was discovered she co-owned the Beverly Hills home that was used to secure the transaction. Mischa Barton's attorney claims his client has nothing to do with the loan agreement.
