Wee Man In Mariachi Divas Video

MARIACHI DIVAS + WEE MAN = ONLY GOOD THINGS
The Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea have just released their first music video—and it features Jason “Wee Man” Acuña of Jackass fame. Produced in support of the group’s sixth studio album, Viva la Diva, the video for the song of the same title came about after the Mariachi Divas met Wee Man last year while on tour. “He is part mexicano and is a good friend of ours,” says Shea. “We played at his birthday party.” When approached about the project, Wee Man channeled his inner mini-mariachi. He plays a lonely trumpeter looking for taco money who gets picked up by a party bus filled with Mariachi Divas. Argentine lead vocalist Lorena “La Che” Panella soars in between live concert footage and shots of las Divas clawing away at Wee Man. Viva la Diva comes out June 29; it will also feature a five-song tribute to the late Michael Jackson. Mariachi Divas perform Saturday at Tortilla Jo’s (1510 Disneyland Dr., Anaheim, 714-535-5000) and inside Disney’s California Adventure theme park daily. THE REV’S CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED
Orange County Deputy Coroner Mitchell Sigal confirmed last week that Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died on Dec. 28, 2009, from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. According to the toxicology report, Sullivan suffered “acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of oxycodone, oxymorphone, diazepam/nordiazepam and ethanol.” (“Acute polydrug intoxication” also claimed the life of actor Heath Ledger.) Oxycodone is a painkiller that substitutes for codeine, oxymorphone is a painkiller similar to morphine, diazepam and nordiazepam are anxiety medications, and ethanol is the intoxicant in alcohol. Sullivan also had cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart), which may have been a “significant condition” in his death.

Sullivan died in Huntington Beach and was buried in a private ceremony on Jan. 6. He was collaborating with the rest of the band on their fifth studio album, Nightmare, when he died. That album is scheduled for release on July 27. Avenged Sevenfold hired one of Sullivan’s favorite drummers, Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, to work on Nightmare; Portnoy will also tour with Avenged Sevenfold on the Rockstar Energy Uproar festival, which has an Irvine stop scheduled for September.
