Elvis Presley died this week 33 years ago, which is why the 11th Annual Elvis Festival, to be held at the Orange County Market Place at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds, is planning a Hawaiian-style tribute to the King. (Elvis' movie “Blue Hawaii” was filmed on the islands of Oahu and Kauai; the soundtrack spent 79 weeks on Billboard's pop album chart.)

There will be a Crème de la King Elvis Karaoke Contest starting at 11 a.m. in which four finalists will be selected to compete at KaraokeFest 2010, the largest event of its kind in the world, held at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona on Sept. 12.
4. Elvis is now a Mr. Potato Head!
Mr. Potato Head Elvis will make its Official West Coast launch, and a nine-foot-six stilt-walking Elvis and hula dancer will be hovering around you throughout the fest.

Elvis fan clubs, Jailhouse Rockers of California and All Shook Up will be offering membership information and selling memorabilia and souvenirs.
