So there's this video going around of a few chefs pledging their support of a New Jersey teen who petitioned Hasbro to make a non-pink, non-purple Easy-Bake Oven for boys. The teen, named McKenna Pope, started the petition after she went to buy an Easy-Bake Oven for her brother only to find them available in those decidedly feminine colors. Her online petition on Change.org reached more than about 40,000 signatures as of this writing.
The video has Manuel Trevino of “Top Chef” and Michael Lomonaco of Porterhouse New York among others praising the girl of her efforts, though a few blogs have pointed out the irony of having male chefs pile on to the cause when there's not exactly a shortage of men who were inspired to get into the industry.
