Victor Salazar Guilty of Molesting Boys in His Children's Home Counseling Office

A 30-year-old man has a court date this afternoon to determine when he will be sentenced for doing the unthinkable: molesting three boys in his Fullerton children's home office as they used his phone to call
their families in other countries.

Victor Salazar of Santa Ana faces seven years and eight months in state prison and a lifetime as a registered sex offender.

He was a counselor at Florence
Crittenton Home, which houses children who either came to the United States alone or whose parents were deported. The wards are kept in protective custody by the state until they can be reunited with
their families, placed in foster care or until they reach maturity.

Between May 25, 2007, and Feb. 5, 2008, Salazar molested three boys
between the ages of 15 and 16 and from South or Central America. While the boys were on the phone in his office, Salazar put his hands down their pants and fondlded their penises.

The youths were afraid to speak out because of fears of being deported or losing their calling privileges, but a 15-year-old did eventually report the molestation. That led to an investigation, arrest and a jury finding Salazar guilty of four felony counts of lewd acts on a
child between the ages of 14 and 15 and two misdemeanor counts of sexual
battery.

As a sex offender, Salazar would be barred from county and city parks that operate under safety zones that forbid predators, the Orange County District Attorney's office notes.
