V20: The Venue shut down after six years at The
Pike shopping center in downtown Rainbow Harbor, says the Press-Telegram.
One of Long Beach's largest and most popular nightclubs, the V20–which
stood for “venue on the water”–was affected by economics and could not reach a new agreement with property manager DDR to remain open, even as its large location near the ocean attracted
downtown Long Beach partygoers.
The 30,000-square-foot downtown venue at 81
Aquarium Way announced its closure Saturday night.

The nightclub opened in 2004, and according to a 2005 OC Weekly story, it struggled to find–and keep–its audience in Downtown Long Beach. V20 accommodated about 2,000 people, had a
50-foot bar in the main room, a restaurant, lounges and a VIP room. Its closure affects 60 employees; the venue has no plans to relocate.
