[UPDATED with Jason Ara Erpinar's Victims Speak:] Did This Man Rape You?

UPDATE, AUG. 25, 9:40 A.M.: Two of convicted rapist Jason Ara Erpinar's three victims were in the courtroom when Judge James E. Rogan sentenced the 22-year-old Yorba Lindan to 15 years in state prison.

With time served in jail already, he will likely spend seven to eight years in a prison cell.

Erpinar, Rogan and others in the Fullerton courtroom got an earful from two victims Wednesday.

Greg Hardesty of the Orange County Register reports that one woman tearfully said Erpinar will cease to exist in her eyes. The 25-year-old reportedly called him “a
disgrace to the human race,” refused to allow what he did to define her and said she can now “find closure.”

As another victim watched from the gallery, an investigator with the district attorney's office read a victim-impact statement from a third woman Erpinar raped, reports Hardesty, noting none of the females knew one another before their nightmares began.

The statement that was read reportedly expressed hopes Erpinar
will spend his prison time reflecting on his crimes, that he will never
attack again and that the rapes will “haunt” him wherever he goes.

She also wrote of being sickened by Erpinar's claim the sex was
consensual and of suffering depression after being raped that forced her to quit school and work
because she “felt dirty.”

The woman added a parting shot.

“I hope that someday you get raped.”

He's headed to the right place for that.

UPDATE, AUG. 25, 9:18 A.M.: 22-year-old Yorba Lindan Jason Ara Erpinar,
who pleaded guilty Monday to raping three women, two of whom he met on
MySpace, has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

UPDATE, AUG. 22, 4:10 P.M.: I'd almost forgotten about this case. Then I typed the defendant's name into the Weekly search engine, and I remembered all over again. It's that There's Something About Mary-style hair flip that did it.

Anyway, despite the 148 back-and-forth, did-he-or-didn't-he comments in our original 2009 blog post about the arrest of Jason Ara Erpinar, the now-22-year-old Yorba Linda man today pleaded guilty to raping three women, two of whom he met on MySpace.

The women of MySpace, ages 18 and 22, went out on dates with Erpinar, who got them drunk and raped them. One of these women awoke with a cracked tooth and scrapes on her face the next morning.

The third victim, Erpinar's ex-girlfriend, was physically abused by him while they dated. Why she even went out with him is a mystery because she told authorities he forced himself on her while she was still a minor.

Erpinar could get up to 15 years in state prison at his sentencing hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
