[UPDATED with I.D., Tributes:] Kevin Fahim Danyal, OC Homicide No. 15: Found Shot in Driveway


UPDATE, MAY 9, 10:40 A.M.: The Orange County coroner's office has identified the 17-year-old boy found shot to death in an Anaheim driveway Friday as Kevin Fahim Danyal.

Online tributes from friends say the Anaheim resident's nickname was “Soldier.”

Reports of shots fired in the 200 block of East Florence Drive around 10 p.m. Friday led Anaheim Police to the driveway where they found Danyal suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital.

Police believe the shooting was gang related, but information on Danyal's killer or killers has not been released.

“R.I.P.” and “miss you already” read tributes to Danyal on Tumblr.

ORIGINAL POST, MAY 7, 2:20 P.M.: Several reports of shots fired in the 200 block of East Florence Drive
in Anaheim led police to a driveway where they found a 17-year-old boy
suffering from gunshot wounds after 10 p.m. Friday. The boy, whose name
has not yet been released, was rushed to a local hospital, where he was
pronounced dead later that night.

Investigators from Anaheim Police gang and homicide units are probing the killing, although the department is uncertain if it was gang-related, according to Sgt. Bob Dunn, the agency's spokesman.
