[UPDATE] Reader Steve Reyes has found proof that SpongeBob is actually a Mexican revolutionary–photographic proof after the jump. And faithful reader Culichi1967 finds even more Mexican attributes in who we Mexicans call Bob Esponja (Bob the Sponge):

Meanwhile, here is the proof submitted by photographer Steve Reyes of SpongeBob's Zapatista leanings. AMAZING…did SpongeBob also ride along with Villa and defend Tenochtitlán from Cortés?
Original post April 30, 7:59 a.m.: In further proof that the Reconquista is not only real but dominant and ascendant, SpongeBob SquarePants–beloved cartoon sponge, the pride of cartoon Orange County–has come out as a full-fledged Aztlán warrior.
The amazing admission happened yesterday on The Pocho Hour of Power, the hilarious KPFK-FM 90.7 show hosted by political cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, Chicano crazyman Esteban Zul, and a rotating cast of three. The pochos interviewed Tom Kenny,
the voice of SpongeBob, and asked if he could record a show promo for
them. After complying, Kenny also offered a couple of “¡Viva la Raza!,”
much to the delight of Alcaraz and the gang.
You can listen to the segment here (toward the middle, but listen to the entire show, damnit!)
With Superman recently renouncing his American citizenship and reminding everyone anew he came to this country illegally, and SpongeBob's MEChA past, who's the next cartoon legend to admit their Mexi leanings? Will Mickey Mouse reveal he's an anchor baby? Will Dora the Explorer change her name to Cimatli? Inquiring minds want to know!
