[UPDATED: Now, With Contestants!] SoCo Certified Farmers' Market to Host Second 'Farm to Food Truck Challenge' THIS Saturday!

UPDATE: Just got the list of trucks participating in the contest Dave and I will judge. At end of post!

ORIGINAL POST, NOV. 11, 12 P.M.: This past Saturday, I drove to the über-hip OC Mart Mix at the SoCo Collection, hugging the 405 freeway. It was raining at the time, so I couldn't patronize the farmers' market, let alone gobble up one of Taco María's AWESOME pumpkin tacos.

But I am going to be there next Saturday–and Dave, too! That's because we're going to be judges at the Farmers' Market second “Farm to Food Truck Challenge.”
]

“Top gourmet-food-truck chefs will compete against one another to
create the best dish using locally grown, farm-fresh ingredients,” says the press release. “The Food Network TV Show Chopped-style
competition requires food-truck chefs to shop the farmers' market for
predetermined seasonal ingredients and whip up a culinary masterpiece in just
60 minutes.”

There's going to be at least 15 luxe loncheras, but no word yet on which ones will compete against one another. Local foodie good guy Bobby Navarro will be the MC, and let's hope he's more Don Rickles and less Alton Brown. The challenge starts at noon THIS SATURDAY–see you there! Oh, and bring canned goods to help those of us who are less fortunate.

Now, the competitors:

SlapFish
Taco Maria
The Flip Truck
Seabirds
Piaggio
Home Skillet

See you there!
