She is charged with one felony count of murder and a sentencing enhancement for
the personal use of a deadly weapon.

If convicted, she could get up to 26 years to life in state prison.

Currently being held in lieu of $1 million bail, Hernandez was scheduled to be arraigned today in Santa Ana's Central Jail.

An OCDA clarifies the events surrounding the incident, at least according to law enforcement authorities:

Hernandez and her husband, Carlos Humberto Vallejo, 31, were scheduled to go to a family event for Easter, but they did not
attend.

That night, the couple attended a different party in Santa Ana. After midnight, Hernandez drove home without Vallejo. She later returned to pick him up.

When the couple arrived home in the early morning hours of Monday, and with family members fast asleep, they got into an argument.

They have three children.

Family
members, who heard screaming and a thud, walked into the back bedroom to find
Vallejo on the floor and bleeding profusely from the leg.

A family
member called 9-1-1 while the other family members tried to assist Vallejo, who died at the scene.

According to earlier reports, paramedics called to the home in the 1600 block of 11th Street in Santa Ana just after 2 a.m. Monday found a dead Vallejo and a large pool of blood in a back bedroom.

Santa Ana Police originally reported Vallejo suffered gunshot wounds but later backed off from that report pending Tuesday's autopsy.

An autopsy performed Tuesday shows Vallejo was stabbed to death.

Following questioning at the home early Monday, police arrested Hernandez on suspicion of murder.

Her kids are in the care of family members.
