[UPDATED:] Adrian Ramos, OC Homicide No. 16: Shot for His Wallet

Three arrests have been made in the murder of Adrian Ramos, a 19-year-old who was gunned down in a robbery attempt as he was walking home from a Fullerton College music class.

The sidewalk in the 1300 block of Kenwood Avenue in Anaheim where the young man nicknamed “Moko” was shot Wednesday was about a mile from his home.

It was also about a mile from where 26-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Garcia (OC Homicide No. 14) was gunned down two days earlier.

Police received a call of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers arrived to find Ramos clinging to life. He was rushed by paramedics to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

Aquiles Sanchez, 21, Edgar Raul Salgado, 21, and a 15-year-old juvenile were arrested Thursday night on suspicion of murder.

“They took him for his wallet,” Anaheim police Sgt. Tim Schmidt tells the Orange County Register.

The daily's report also has details about Ramos' international reputation as young magician “El Magnifico,” and a vigil his family held Friday at the place where he was killed.
