I didn't say anything because I didn't want to jinx it, but 2012 was shaping up to be a relatively light year when it came to the County of Orange, which isn't exactly Detroit when it comes to murders anyway. However, multiple murders like the one last month in Orange, coupled with a rash of recent killings Johnny Law links to gang activity, put us back on the normal 187 track. The latest? Early today in Santa Ana.
Santa Ana Police received a call around 1:30 a.m. of shots fired and a male down at an apartment complex in the 500 block of East Pine Street, near Oak Street. There, in the underground garage, a male was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gang officers and homicide detectives are investigating, but they have little to go on so far. Anyone with information that can help them is asked to call the SAPD Gang Unit at 714.245.8648.
