A day without laughter is a day wasted, said famous comedian, movie star and director Charlie Chaplin. But before the Gold Rush auteur made audiences laugh on the big screen, he brought humor to Vaudeville tent shows at the beginning of the 20th century. Following in that vein, Harvelle's jazz club in Long Beach strives to bring back the variety show format with their weekly Underground Comedy N Burlesque night, pitting together stand-up comedians and sultry striptease dancers in a vintage environment. To keep the element of surprise and spontaneity going, comedians won't be announced prior to the show, but they'll surely make a splash with their stand-up routines. Meanwhile, well-renowned dance troupe Dirty Little Secrets burlesque shimmies and shakes their ta-tas (and who knows what else) in between. Head down the stairs of this classic Downtown Long Beach speakeasy bar and get your laughs on at this adults-only, risque romp.
