Trojan Barbie

The West Coast Premiere of Christine Evans' Trojan Barbie comes to the Garage Theatre's stage—and with it relocates Euripides' tragedy The Trojan Women to modern times complete with modern warfare. Watch as Lotte, a timid English woman who repairs dolls, is captured while on her “dream vacation” to war-torn Troy, and meets Helen and Hecuba and her two daughters in a women's POW camp—and through themes of violence and sex, each of these characters become a symbol of survival, hope and death. It's mysterious, dark, fanciful, powerful, and at times, just plain weird—a perfect fit for the quirky tastes of Long Beach's Garage Theatre.

Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 14. Continues through Oct. 13, 2012
