Top 10 Viral Videos of 2013

Viral videos have been popular since the beginning of the Internet (yes kids, there was a time when there was no Internet) but as the years progress, the videos that we share and make popular have gotten more elaborate than ever. Some of these videos become so popular in fact that they garnish millions upon millions of hits making the people in these videos complete YouTube sensations. Not everyone can make a “viral” video but this year, like it or not, there were a handful of people that went above and beyond whether they meant to or not. So with that, we give you the Top 10 Viral Videos of 2013.

10- Cat Attacks Woman In The Snow

With a late entry this year, this video is nothing short of hilarious and is gaining views by the minute. You might have mixed emotions about this one because you either love or hate the feline species, but that's beside the point. The bottom line is that this viral video taught one woman the valuable lesson of karma. It also teaches the masses that you should probably not fuck with cats no matter how annoying they are. Enough said.

9- #XMAS JAMMIES – Merry Christmas from the Holderness Family!

Another entry that came late in 2013 is literally becoming the talk of the town and for the love of all that is sacred America, PLEASE tell us that it's because you are cringing while hurling from it. This cheesy holiday video comes from the Holderness family and actually is their beyond wince worthy “Christmas card.” In this case, “Christmas Jammies” is also being used in order for the dad of this family to get out the news that he quit his job to make videos just like this. (Shameless plug alert!) Also, that he got a vasectomy. TMI and WTF.

8- Shaq Balloon

When it comes to magicians, you either believe in the “magic” or you're a skeptic and you try to figure out how this so-called “magic” happens. Criss Angel is one of the most popular magicians out there (we still don't know why) and when he “Mindfreak's” the masses, people really go all in. During one of his shows on A&E this year, he even levitated Shaquille O'Neal which seems impossible. And that's because it is. Leave it to America to breakdown the illusion and divulge that this “floating Shaq” was really a balloon. The video parodies that followed the big (lie) reveal were priceless as Shaq floats (sorry, levitates) by The Today Show, during NFL games, and even at a Miley Cyrus performance.

7- Batdad

While Vine videos were cornering the viral market this year, not everyone was successful while making them. (Seriously, some of you need to stop it.) A few did indeed master the art of the six second video however, and one of these people was “Batdad.” This father of four is indeed a superhero when it comes to making his kids listen, learn, and behave all thanks to his bat mask. His wife seems to not be the biggest fan of the “Batdad” persona but the hits that the videos have received proves that the world feels otherwise.

6- Unbelievable Little Kid Does a Trick Shot Video

Everyone loves an adorable kid video, but when an adorable kid has mad skills, say in basketball, a viral video can really come to life. Little Titus is not only a cutie, he also has a sick trick shot that wowed and amazed us all. Side note: seeing as how he's been shooting baskets for a while and he is still so young, the Laker's might want to keep their eye on this one.

5- Harlem Shake

Stemming from a song by Baauer, Harlem Shake took the world (yes, the world) by storm in 2013. Generally starting the video with someone dancing solo, the bass drops and BAM! The room is filled with people going wild with props, costumes, and everyone shaking their asses wildly. Who knows why it became so popular or why everyone from comics, kids, and sports teams got on board but dammit, they did. The Harlem Shake was incredibly popular this year but next year, let's just let it go. OK, people?

4- The Ohio State University Marching Band

Marching bands really have it going on and to be perfectly honest, we never needed the movie “Drumline” to tell us that. (Sorry, Nick Cannon.) While celebrating the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's “Bad” album, The Ohio State University Marching Band performed an incredible tribute to the King of Pop. All we can say (and with over nine million hits clearly the world concurs) is that this band is in fact “bad.” Bad meaning beyond good of course.

3- Charles Ramsey

We can all agree that there is nothing quite like a “feel good” type of story and when after 10 years of being held captive, Amanda Berry (along with Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus) was found alive and the kidnapping monster Ariel Castro went to jail, we all got just that. What happened after that though, well, it was pure internet gold. The hero in this story was Charles Ramsey and when he was interviewed by the news, the real feel good magic happened.

2- Starbucks Drake Hands

Brody Ryan's Starbucks Drake Hands really had the internet all a-buzz this year. It was so popular in fact, we even covered it. To recap, Brody met a chick at Starbucks and as a joke (so he says), he sent this video clip where he let his hands do the talking. She released it because of the creepy factor and it became viral, a hashtag was born, and the parody videos started pouring in. Brody was catapulted into our lives and whether you liked it or not, there is no doubt you at least got a laugh or many due to the many stars that made parody videos themselves.

1- Worst Twerk Ever

Ohhhh Jimmy Kimmel. “Twerking” took over the world in 2013 and even though Ms. Cyrus might have showcased it the most, Kimmel tricked us all by making us pseudo-care about the twerk for real. With a video of a girl getting set on fire during a little “twerking gone wrong,” the Internet was ablaze with concern. The late night talk show host quickly revealed that he set up the prank burning into our minds that Jimmy is the king of the viral video for this year. Well done, Kimmel.
