Tomas Antonio Linares Busted After Van is Pulled Over with 107 lb. of Pot Inside

The report of a U-Haul van suspiciously parked in the employee lot of a Brea bank led cops to discover 107 pounds of marijuana inside, stake out the vehicle Saturday afternoon and watch as a 31-year-old Anaheim man tried to drive it away, according to police.

Tomas Antonio Linares has been held without bail since his arrest after 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

After getting the report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Bank of America, 275 S. Valencia Ave., officers discovered four large trash bags inside the van, one of which contained smaller bags of cannabis, says Brea Police Lt. Darrin Devereux.

Undercover detectives then set up the surveillance that ended with the arrest of Linares, Devereux said.

He said that wholesale, in bulk, that amount of pot would fetch about $107,000, but when packaged into smaller bags for sale, the profit could drive up to $500,000.
