Former Mater Dei, Capo Valley and USC star quarterback Todd Marinovich—in behavior more fitting the NFL team that drafted him, the Oakland Raiders—has been charged with five misdemeanors tied to his arrest for allegedly trespassing while naked and possessing pot, meth, a pipe and syringes.
The 47-year-old Irvine resident is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 9 on counts of attempted aggravated trespass of a residence, trespass with interference of property rights, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, public nudity as well as an infraction for possession of marijuana, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.
A conviction could have the lanky lefty calling plays in Orange County Jail for three years.
We previously reported on Marinovich's Aug. 19 arrest by Irvine police officers. The department received a call around 9 that night from a resident who saw a naked man on the Venta Spur Trail near a home on Bluecoat.
Arriving cops found a man hiding in a Bluecoat backyard that was not his own, and he was later identified as Todd Marvin Marinovich, Irvine Police Commander Mike Hallinan said at the time.
A brown bag containing methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes, a marijuana pipe, Marinovich's wallet and driver's license was found on a nearby trail, according to the OCDA, which further accuses the former footballer of having tried to open the sliding back door of someone else's home.
Marinovich was cited and released that night, Hallinan said.
