At this point in Daytrotter's love affair with Local Natives (who are we to talk, right?) we have to assume that this band is either extremely easy to draw as cartoons or their music is just good enough to earn them a third visit with Rock Island's cyber indie taste maker. Maybe it's both. But we'll lean towards the latter. Drawing a decent-looking beard, mustache or five o'clock shadow is tougher than you think. Their newest session came out today, featuring live, acoustic versions of “Sticky Thread,” “Wide Eyes” (though apparently DT thinks it's “Wild Eyes”) and “Cubism Dream.”

This session is considerably shorter than their previous one that came out this time last summer (where they played most of the tracks on their debut album, Gorilla Manor). However, the writeup further down the page is considerably longer and manages to delve into the Kelcy Ayer's little-known talent for character acting.
Besides that, the band's brilliant rendition of “Wide Eyes” should be your main incentive to hear the Natives trot on with their bad selves once again. And if you're hoping to see them live anytime soon, we'd suggest picking up tickets to see them at the Henry Fonda Theater on Sep. 18 (their Sep.17 show is sold out) with their San Juan Capistrano buds the Union Line.
