This Week in Food: Italian Holiday, Final Pho and Arrested Development Pub Quiz!

Between the start of our epic Final Pho tournament and news of quizzes that we can actually win, it was quite the week here at your favorite infernal blog. Highlights after the jump!

Dave, fresh from assignment in Italia, taught us how to make homemade grappa, hot mulled wine, and put Kéan Coffee to the ultimate test: against a cappuccino made in Italy.

I profiled Santa Ana's Lonchera Lane for Good Food, found out that Diet Coke now outsells Pepsi, and found five great brawls at taquerías.

Anne Marie profiled Hopkins AG almonds, got drunk after work at Morton's the Steakhouse, and reminded us of the Fullerton Arboretum's annual tomato-and-pepper sale.

Edwin gave us the heartwarming story of a Japanese ramen shop owner who's giving away free noodles to those affected by Japan's recent disasters, found great fried calamari at Benley's in Long Beach, and learned that the Anaheim Ducks are taking suggestions from fans for their coming restaurant at John Wayne Airport.

Finally, Shuji warned us of a possible sushi shortage due to radiation, Michelle found a coming “I Love Poke” festival, and Vickie had the best news of the week: a coming Arrested Development pub quiz! The Weekly's scrabble of scribblers will destroy all in this competition. Or . . . [cue Oscar Bluth] will we?

Happy eating!
