This Week in Food: Banned Grasshopper Tacos, The Greatest 'Cue in Texas, and Acceptable Pantry Items!

Another great week wrapped up in the wackiest food blog this side of Fast Food Maven. Legitimate highlights after the jump!

In the dead-tree edition, Edwin found out what the deal-io is with Delius in Signal Hill, while I found an amazing “smelly deli” in Costa Mesa called Le Cafe.

In these parts, I applauded New Mexico's efforts to finally protected its heirloom chiles, praised Starbucks' mini-cupcakes, and ranted about San Francisco's shutdown of a taquería that served grasshopper tacos.

It was Edwin's turn to go through our 100 favorite dishes in OC this year, and he also wrote about Michael Voltaggio coming to the OC Fair this summer (!) and talked about health officials in Missouri banning the production of cicada ice cream.

Dave wrote a spirited defense of pie, featured five canned goods that deserve pantry space, and taught us how to make butter in five minutes.

Michelle gave us the REAL Cock Shot (move over, Anthony Weiner), talked about the coming Angry Birds cookbook, and found an iPhone app for navigating Asian grocery stores.

Finally, Shuji took us to the best barbecue spot in Texas, while Anne Marie went on the line with the chef at Fullerton's Matador Cantina, and got drunk after work at Classic Q Billiards in Newport.

Happy eating!
