In an effort to capture every last drop of Orange County's hipster fan base, Fullerton bands Dahga Bloom (featured in this week's Locals Only column) and My Pet Saddle confirmed yesterday that South county's psych rock kingpins, the Growlers, are joining the line-up for their dual record release show at the House of Blues, Anaheim on July 31. The concert is presented by headliner's management company, Solis Liberi.

Keep in mind that the line-up already includes a set from Santa Ana's Free the Robots, Long Beach faves Crystal Antlers, Bay Area band Lumerians and local up-and-comers Cosmonauts. Unfortunately, Growlers are replacing Audacity on the bill. Poor Audacity fans.
Is the House of Mouse capable of sustaining against this much crash-bang, vintage rock mayhem. How about the audience that comes with it? Either way, we'll definitely be in the crowd.
For both bands, this show has been a long time coming. That goes double for DB (formerly the Living Suns, but you already knew that) who will be releasing their first, self-titled full-length album since their debut as the Living Suns back in 2007. Those who've stuck with the band until now have witnessed the change from their old, bludgeoning rock riffs to their current shroom-chewing psychedelics.
In Saddle's case, their forthcoming album, Laughing At Me, contains songs like “Shoe Shaker” and even older tracks like “Il Fait Beau” that were a causing a stir way back in 2009, as well as some newer material. Good to see both bands finally completing these projects. On a side note: this is the second major local line-up to hit the House of Blues this month (last one was Rye Douglas Band, The Union Line, Hindu Pirates, Pacific Hurt and Kiev on July 9).
