We actually couldn’t wait for this year’s BET Awards and not just because Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson were once again hosting. And it wasn’t just because we assumed Beyoncé would do a “surprise” performance. And it wasn’t to see how Maxwell or Sheila E. have been aging or to hear 75% of the winners/announcers push their political agenda. We just couldn’t wait for the highly anticipated BET’s Prince tribute. Rather, BET’s “Prince Celebration.”
After the shitty one provided by this year’s Billboard Music Awards and the shade that BET threw at them afterwards, we just KNEW they were about to come hard. And hard they came. Some of it was even hard to listen to in general. The rest of the show, ehhh, it actually wasn’t half bad. As you can imagine, Twitter lit up with thoughts on the good, the bad, and the tributes so here are a few of our fav’s.
