The Five Least-Deserving, Non-Incumbent Winners in Orange County Elections Last Night

SO…while a lot of good happened in Orange County politics last night, so did a lot of evil. Not just did a bunch of former councilmembers who have nothing else to do with their sorry lives except run for offices in which they were termed out years ago win last night (Lucille Kring in Anaheim, Mike Alvarez in Orange, among others), but other elections saw dumb voters elect reprehensible candidates, all because they don't bother to learn the truth about things.

Of course, some candidates are more reprehensible than others, so without further ado…

1. Bruce Broadwater Wins as Garden Grove Mayor

Next to Larry Agran and Don Papi Pulido, the man reviled as “Bulldozer” is perhaps the worst pocket dictator in Orange County. Here's a man who was termed out of office in 2004 as mayor, then decided to run for City Council in 2006–and now he's back as mayor! He has no chance of advancing in higher office, and will continue to play these musical chairs until Moroni calls the Mormon to his planet–sorry, Garbage Grove!

2. Jordan Brandman as Anaheim Councilmember

Gabriel San Román will get into the analysis later, but Brandman is hopefully the last of the Mohicans: a corporatist Democrat. Yeah, we laughed at that, too. You cannot trust anyone who counts on Curt Pringle as a pal, or decided to run with dirty cop Steve Chavez Lodge on a slate. But with an ACLU lawsuit down his throat, it'll be great to see Brandman squirm in front of Chicano yaktivists AND his handlers at the same time–pendejo deserves it!

3. Claudia Alvarez as Rancho Santiago Community College District Trustee

Can this pendeja PLEASE go away from the political scene? Of course not! Claudia once thought she was on a fast-track to become a judge–that is, until Moxley exposed her for the inept prosecutor that she is. Since then, Clownia has desperately tried to do everything to stay in office, from suing SanTana to allow her to run for office again despite getting termed out AND getting a term-limit extension passed just for her to running for the Rancho Santiago Community College District Board of Trustees despite having no career in education, no children to give a shit about, and never having attended community college in the first place. And we all know she's only using this as a ballot designation when she foolishly decides to run again for higher office only to be smacked down by voters–say what you will about Broadwater, but at least he knows his place. SanTana voters will now have to deal with at least four more years of her petty, rancid politics. With apologies to good witches: FUERA, BRUJA, FUERA!!!

4. Cecilia “Ceci” Iglesias as Santa Ana Unified School District Trustee

Iglesias does have children, and she ran a masterful campaign by having her seemingly home-drawn signs pop up across the city. But she's a convenient liar who ran as a shadow candidate for Van Tran in his failed congressional race against Loretta Sanchez in 2010. In that race, she tried to get the Orange County Dream Team to support her for office by claiming she was for their legalization. Members now completely disavow her, because she's finally emerged as a Republican blowhard who ain't for their legalization. About the only positive thing I can say about her is that I do believe she's the first Salvadoran ever elected to public office in Orange County–and then I remember that she's advocating “value based programs,” GOP speak for “keep gays and liberals away from our children.” Guarantee she runs against Loretta in two years as the GOP nominee.

5. Lucille Kring for Anaheim City Council

I'll let Gabriel get that one--read it here!
