The Day a $2.2 Million Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Came to My Hood

Don't know if you saw this last month, but it mentions how a Ferrari and Maserati dealership moved out in my 'hood (to across the street from OC Weekly World HQ) and was promptly replaced by a Lamborghini dealer.

Though most cars on the lot at 1425 W. Baker St., Costa Mesa, sell in the $150,000-$500,000 range, the Lamborghini Newport Beach's recent grand opening featured a $2.2 million ride.

Lamborghini Newport Beach's blog features photographs of the Sesto Elemento being gently unloaded for the party. This was a rare sight indeed because the first time the car had been shown in America was in Pebble Beach the week before.

The main Lamborghini Newport Beach website–lambonb.com–promises to have video up of the Sesto Elemento soon. Meanwhile, I stumbled upon this on YouTube:

So, what's the big whoop? Built by Lamborghini's Advanced Composites
Research Center, the sports car weighs just 2,202 lbs., has a 570hp V10 engine and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. That's faster than it takes to wait for the green on those damn freeway meters!

It's reported on the Lamborghini Newport Beach blog that the Sesto Elemento sits so low to the ground that it's difficult to
pull it off a truck on an incline. Boards had to be strategically placed, over and over, to get the sports car into the Costa Mesa showroom.

Once it was fired up, onlookers got a treat.

“The sound was just incredible, something
that you only could dream of hearing in person,” reports the blog.

For the dealer's recent grand opening, the Aventador LP 700-4 featured in the Batman Dark Knight Rises movie was also on display. Surely someone else was playing a movie in their own mind of a race.
