The Colourist

If you looked at the kooky spelling of this band's name and deduced they were from Europe, you failed to factor in indie rock irony. The Colourist in fact hails from right here in O.C. But unlike so many current American indie bands, these guys are actually good. Rocking a poppy piano/keyboard-accented sound, the band features the sweet harmonies and psuedo-falsetto vocals one comes to expect from this genre. And though they travel in well-tread musical territory, they manage to sound fresh and uplifting. They are the current residence at Detroit Bar for this month. But don't wait to check them out.
