Sure, blues music has continued to serve as an element of contemporary rock musicians to give their sounds more edge and Americana flavor, but have you heard any recent artists who have employed pure, 12-bar, AAB-structure blues? If you have trouble naming at least five artists (not including The Black Keys, you cheaters), then perhaps it's time to pay attention to what the Orange County Blues Society is up to. They've always kept a consistent track record of preserving traditional blues music through its roster of artists, both local and transplant. Tonight's series of musicians playing the Coach House will prove just how much staying power this oft-forgotten genre still has; come listen to the Chase Walker Band, Crosscut Delux with singer Papa J, Bill House and LeMain Blues Train.
