Kiven and Rags & Ribbons

Need to scratch that melodic rock itch? If Queen's become stale on the iPod and you want a taste of quality sounds without the quality hole in your pocketbook, take a trip to Slidebar this Tuesday for some tuneage that's sure to scratch that itch.

The Originalites
Hurricane's Bar & Grill

Summer's over? What? While the local temperature still reads well into the 90s, keep jammin' to those sweet reggae tunes with The Originalites. This local reggae band has been making tracks since 2009 and gives you more reason to celebrate an endless summer.

The American Wake
Silky Sullivan's

So it's a little too hot to have a guinness. Easy fix: subsititute for Jameson shots and enjoy some Irish tuneage from The American Wake. If a good jig is in order, head over to Silky Sullivan's and watch these guys rock the house…for free.

La Poli
The Continental Room

Post-punk fans should be lining up for La Poli's sounds at The Continental Room. Within the swank velvety interior, heavy drum lines and guitar will be heard hammering through the speakers with these guys.

DJ Josh One
Commonwealth Lounge

After almost two decades of producing music, touring the world and working with artists like Aloe Blacc, DJ Josh One has earned the right to be called one of OC's best crate diggers. Discerning hip-hop fans this is no free show to be missed.

Electric Funeral

Love Black Sabbath? Get your butt to the Slidebar to watch tribute band Electric Funeral rock the house. Their uncanny stage presence combined with their Sabbath-stye guitars will blow your mind…for free.

The Dixiedelics
Need a proper jazz fix? Steamers can help ya out with that one with their popular jazz group The Dixiedelics. Trumpets, banjos, piano and a classic jazzy drum line will make you think “wait, this was free?!” I hope you're wearing a fedora and ordering an old fashioned.

Shoos Off/Magic Giant/The Lucky Lonely (Free before 8 p.m., $5 cover after)
The Wayfarer

Some things in life are worth waiting for…like this group of talented bands. Get to the Wayfarer before 8 p.m. and you will have an evening of funky electronic meshed with acoustic stylings from all three bands. For their sounds, it's well worth the wait.

Jennifer Corday
The Eldorado

A skilled singer-songwriter who is both versatile with instruments ranging from cello to guitar, this accomplished solo artist is a regular feature at The Eldorado in Long Beach. After performing at many festivals and venues throughout the day, you can check out her stylings in a more intimate environment.

October 30

Rock out the last days of October with Cromwell at Slidebar. These guys will surely get fists pumping and hair flying. Since 2005, this band made their way through the Warped Tour, their release of their first EP “So Close to Forever,” and after a few additions to the band, and a couple more EP releases, these guys continue to have something cooking. Be sure to see them for free…while you still can.
