The Annoying Orange Comes to TV

Coming to television after the new year: The Annoying Orange.

No, it is not yet another reality series based in our lil' slice of heaven, although practically all of them that have or are airing from here could easily use that title.

The Annoying Orange is an Internet phenomenon crossing over to the Cartoon Network.

Created
by Dane Boedigheimer and produced by entertainment management and
production company The Collective, The
Annoying Orange
features an endearingly annoying Orange
that playfully heckles other fruits, vegetables or nearby objects with puns and
jokes. The
Annoying Orange
went viral after debuting on the Internet two years ago and has generated more than 850 million total YouTube views as of September. The first wave of products based on the program flew off toy store shelves.

Boedigheimer and Tom Sheppard (Emmy Award-winning writer for Pinky and the Brain) are co-creators of the half-hour television series. Executive producers are Conrad Vernon (director of Madagascar 3 and Monsters vs. Aliens) and The Collective's Gary Binkow and Dan Weinstein.

The series will premiere as part of cable channel the Cartoon Network's original programming block in 2012.
