ORIGINAL POST BY DAVE JAN. 30, 2012, 9:30 A.M. Chef Joe Youkhan's Tasting Spoon and Taco MarĂa will be doing a sit-down, table-service brunch “pop-up” at the SoCo farmers market on Saturday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m. Joe Youkhan and Carlos Salgado will be trolling the market for ingredients, then shutting down their trucks to cook the ingredients they pick as part of a four-course meal.

The SoCo farmers market, though small, is well0curated; there's produce of various kinds, a good mix of fruits and vegetables, meat from Da-Le Ranch in Lake Elsinore on alternate Saturdays, bread, honey, avocado oil, nuts… Gustavo and I were judges at this year's Farm-to-Food Truck challenge and, if that experience is anything to go by, ticketholders will be in for a real treat.

The event is limited to 50 seats and as of yesterday, 26 had sold; call (949) 973-7102 to reserve your seat (phone only, please). Tickets are $45 per person and include bottled water.

If you don't get your seat, the trucks will be cooking up until 11:30 a.m. or so, so you can get the usual menus from them. In addition, there are normally seven trucks at SoCo on Saturdays, and the five not involved in the pop-up will continue lunch service as normal.

The SoCo farmers market is Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SoCo Collection, 3315 Hyland Avenue, Costa Mesa.
