If you were wondering how many people would pay money for a taco made with a Doritos shell, the answer is: a lot. Taco Bell sold 100 million of its much-talked-and-tweeted-about Doritos Locos Tacos in the last 10 weeks, the Orange County Register reports. That makes it the most successful product launch in company's 50-year history.
The Crunchwrap Supreme previously held the title. When it was launched in 2005, it became so popular that they gave it a permanent spot on the menu.
Whether the thought of Taco Bell makes you drool or gag, the Irvine chain has been having a damn good year. It seems that the fake beef lawsuit of 2011, which could have been a destroyer, has only made the company stronger–and crazier.
Expect more zaniness soon, starting with the Doritos Locos Tacos Cool Ranch edition.
