Taco Bell Crime of the Week: Drive Away From Drive-Thru Hold-Up!

Man, if only more attempted robberies ended the way one recently did in Rochester, New York, home to some mighty-fine hot dogs.

From the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle:

A fast-thinking driver in line at a Rochester fast-food restaurant
stepped on the gas pedal and sped away from the scene of an attempted
armed robbery on West Ridge Road early Sunday, leaving the would-be
thief without any ill-gotten gains.

Lieutenant Laura Grande of the Rochester Police Department said that a woman
in her early 20s was waiting in the drive-through lane at Taco Bell,
600 W. Ridge Rd., about 2:34 this morning, when a male wearing a white
jump suit and a bandanna approached her vehicle while carrying a rifle.

The woman told officers that the armed bandit said to her, “I hate to
do this to you.” However, before he could finish the thought, the
driver had stepped on the accelerator pedal and was long gone.
