Suicide Silence Singer Mitch Lucker Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Huntington Beach

Update: A candlelight vigil for tonight has been announced. Details at the bottom of the post.

Mitch Lucker, the lead singer of Suicide Silence, died on Thursday morning after succumbing to injuries from a motorcycle crash on Wednesday in Huntington Beach. He was 28 years-old. 

According to the Press Enterprise, the Orange County Coroner's office said Lucker was hospitalized after the accident that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Halloween and was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. at UCI Medical Center. Huntington Beach police are currently investigating the crash.

“There's no easy way to say this,” the band said in a statement on their Facebook page. “Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Though he lived in H.B., Lucker grew up in Riverside where he formed Suicide Silence in 2002, the lineup includes guitarists Chris Garza and Mark Heylmun, bassist Dan Kenney and drummer Alex Lopez. After releasing their debut album, The Cleansing, in 2007, the band went on to release two more albums including their latest offering, 2011's The Black Crown. In between, the band won two consecutive Revolver Golden God Awards for most innovative band and best new band in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Minutes after the band posted the announcement on their Facebook page, the post recieved a flood of emotional comments including one from fan Alex Haines: 
“Its hard to see someone so young die. Especially with the talent he had. Suicide Silence will never be the same without you, Mitch. The talent you brought to this band will never be replaced. Rest in peace”
Lucker also leaves behind a wife and a daughter.The band was scheduled to perform at California Metalfest VI in San Bernardino on Saturday, Nov. 24.
