An Anaheim man who formerly taught history at a Diamond Bar middle school was convicted Wednesday of unlawful sex, lewd acts and other sex-related charges involving a 13-year-old girl he had taught.
Steven Andrews, 43, was found guilty by a jury in Pomona of six counts of unlawful sexual
intercourse with a minor, five counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, three counts of lewd act upon a child, two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16 and one count of possession or control of child pornography.

He now faces up to 15 years and eight months in state prison and the likelihood of having to register as a sex offender for life, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The girl was a student of Andrews' for about a year at Lorbeer Middle School before the sexual misconduct began, according to prosecutors, who added they had trysts on and off campus.
Another teacher became concerned about the relationship and contacted school officials, who in turn rang up the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Andrews was arrested on Sept. 30, 2011.
