The warning signs went up after the Marine Safety Department received video footage of a shark on Tuesday, according to Lt. Chris Pierce, who said no sharks were spotted during an in-water investigation by lifeguards that followed.
“Because of the size of the sharks and the activity they were engaged in, it was determined to just put up signs,'' Pierce told City News Service.
The sharks that were sighted are juveniles about 5 to 6 feet long that only prey on smaller fish and not humans, Pierce added.
