Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana To Open In Crystal Cove

Mozza, Ortica, Il Dolce, meet your newest competitor.

A new pizzeria by the name of Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana is planned for Crystal Cove Promenade in Newport Beach, and they're pretty much offering what every new pizza joint that isn't Pielogy and 800 Degrees is offering these days: pizzas made in the style of and in deference to the original from Naples, Italy.

There are already four other Settebello's in existence, in Pasadena, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Farmington, Utah. The Newport Beach store will be located next door to Tamarind.

They describe their pizza this way:

]

Pizza Napoletana is made with a soft dough and takes about one minute to cook in a wood-burning oven. Because of this, Pizza Napoletana has several distinctive characteristics. Pizza in Napoli is soft and foldable and can be considered “wet” by American standards, for this reason the people in Napoli generally eat their pizza with a knife and a fork. Blackened char spots on the pizza crust is a tell-tale sign of Pizza Napoletana that has been cooked in a blistering hot, wood burning oven. Each pizza is an individual work of art.
