Selections: Robert Rauschenberg

After Robert Rauschenberg, the art world— and the doctrine of art instructors to legions of art school students worldwide on what is art— would never be the same. Bob's collages brought unprecedented vibrance to the canvas, while his assemblages brought a conceptual dimension to everyday objects. But whatever the medium, Rauschenberg's pieces rocked the gallery space, and will do so again at Orange County Museum of Art's retrospective of his work, entitled 'Selections.' Straight out of OCMA's personal collection, the show features nine works from 1971 to 1985 on display, including his seminal collages, prints, light boxes, and more. So observe up close all the intricate layers of detail within a Rauschenberg piece; you don't need to be in art school to appreciate it.

Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: July 15. Continues through Oct. 11, 2015
