An assistant baseball coach at Segerstrom High School in Santa Ana has been arrested for allegedly sexting two teen boys.
Carlos “CJ” Salcito Sales Jr., 25, of Santa Ana, was booked Friday on suspicion of attempted lewd and lascivious conduct and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense, according to Officer Jennifer Marlatt, the Huntington Beach Police spokeswoman.
The alleged victims are 15 and 16, and the parents of one called police Thursday to report finding sexually explicit text messages on their child's cell phone, Marlatt said.
An investigation determined Sales had solicited nude photos and directed one boy to perform lewd acts, and that the adult may have sent lewd photos to the second boy, Marlatt said.
A Segerstrom baseball program bio on Sales indicates was raised in Santa Ana and attended the high school, where he played on the Jaguars' varsity team for three of his four years there. He was an all-league selection and went on to play at Santa Ana College, where he ended his baseball playing career.
The sports website Otto in Focus did a write-up on Sales' prowess as a fast-pitch softball player.
He was released from Huntington Beach Jail custody after posting $100,000 bond. Because of work with young people, investigators fear there may be other victims and ask anyone with pertinent information about Sales to call the police hotline at 714.375.5066.
