There's nothing like a cold beer on a hot, humid day, but don't drink too many Saturday if you plan on driving through Garden Grove that night because the police department's Traffic Unit is running a DUI/driver license checkpoint.
]
It's scheduled from 9 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location.
Garden Grove Police Sgt. J. Fisher says that over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed nine lives and resulted in 144 injury crashes harming 211 people in that city.
Checkpoint funding is provided by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
