The department's Traffic Unit, which runs the operation, has not indicated where in the city it will be.
“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed seven lives and resulted in 200 injury crashes harming 87 of our friends and neighbors,” says Garden Grove Police Sgt. J. Fischer in the checkpoint announcement.
Funding for the checkpoint comes from a grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
